The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Decision on the accession of BiH to the additional protocol to the Convention on the contract for the international carriage of goods by road (CMR) on the electronic waybill, which opens the way to the full digitization of one of the key documents in international road transport.
By acceding to this protocol, BiH introduces the possibility of using an electronic bill of lading (e-CMR), which has the same legal force as a paper document. This system enables faster document processing and lower administrative costs, and in practice means less paperwork for carriers, faster border crossing and safer management of transport documentation in international traffic.
The decision represents an important step in the process of digitizing the transport sector, improving the operations of domestic carriers and strengthening BiH’s competitiveness in international transport. After the additional protocol is signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Elmedin Konaković, it will be ratified by the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
In addition, the Presidency of BiH has also adopted decisions to approve the conclusion of the Agreement on Coordination between the Directorate of Civil Aviation of BiH, the Directorate of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Serbia and the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro and the Memorandum of Understanding between the competent ministries for transport of the European Union and Western Balkan countries.
It has also adopted decisions to initiate the procedure for conducting negotiations to conclude the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland regarding the provision of air transport services and the acceptance of the Decision of the Joint Committee of the Central European Free Trade Agreement, the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH announced.
