BiH Presidency Member discusses The Southern Gas Interconnection And Lobbying Pressures in Washington

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, stated in Washington that the project of the Southern Gas Interconnection is crucial for the energy security of BiH, with the support of United States (U.S.) officials, and warned of attempts to spread false narratives about BiH, his office announced.

Becirovic met with U.S. Senators Thom Tillis, Jeanne Shaheen, and Jeff Merkley, with whom he discussed the political and security situation in BiH and the region, as well as strengthening bilateral relations with the U.S.

During the meeting, he thanked the senators for the continuous support of the U.S. to BiH, emphasizing that the U.S. is a strategic partner and an important factor of stability and security in BiH and the region.

Becirovic warned of attempts to spread, as he stated, false narratives about BiH, including portraying Bosniaks as a security threat, stressing the importance of exposing them in the U.S. and other key countries.

The U.S. senators said that the U.S. remains a strong partner of BiH and confirmed continued support for European and Euro-Atlantic integrations, the rule of law, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH.

The Southern Gas Interconnection project envisages connecting the gas network of BiH with Croatia, with the aim of diversifying sources of natural gas supply and reducing dependence on a single supply route.
