Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Denis Becirovic spoke in Dayton with a delegation of the French parliament at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which included Senator Ronan Le Gleut, Senator Rachid Temal, Member of Parliament Christophe Plassard, and Member of Parliament Eric Woerth. The meeting was held within the framework of activities of the international conference marking the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Becirovic informed his interlocutors in detail about the dangerous attacks on the constitutional order of the state of BiH by the authorities of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity. He emphasized that through the adoption of unconstitutional acts, the constitutional-legal system of the state is being undermined, and the functioning of state institutions of BiH is being endangered.
He particularly warned of the threats made by the president of the BiH entity RS to use armed force against members of the security and judicial agencies of BiH, which represents a dangerous threat to security and peace, it was stated from Becirovic’s Cabinet.
Becirovic emphasized that these attacks are coordinated and long-planned, with the aim of weakening democratic institutions and endangering peace and stability in the entire Western Balkans region.
The French parliamentarians expressed concern about the current situation in BiH and condemned attempts to undermine its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
They confirmed that the Republic of France remains firmly committed to supporting peace, stability, and the Euro-Atlantic future of BiH, and that parliamentary cooperation through the NATO format will remain a strong tool in preserving common values and security.
Becirovic underlined the exceptional importance of the Republic of France, as one of the key states in the European Union (EU) and NATO, as well as its principled support for BiH and proactive approach with the aim of stabilizing the situation.
