In 2022, a total of 1.184.758 vehicles were registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which represents an increase of 32.015 vehicles, or 2.78 percent, compared to 2021 (1.152.743).
Comparing the number of registered vehicles by age structure, i.e. according to Euro standards, as well as by type of fuel, the BiH auto-moto club (BIHAMK) states that both the age and ecological structure of the vehicle fleet in our country changes from year to year, and that on BiH there are an increasing number of vehicles with higher Euro standards and vehicles that use alternative fuels for propulsion, but unfortunately still not with the same intensity as the total number of vehicles in our country is growing.
The highest number of registered vehicles (162.560) is in Canton Sarajevo (CS), which is an increase of 2.64 percent compared to 2021, and the lowest number of registered vehicles is in Bosnian Podrinje Canton (BPC) (7.710). It is interesting that in the Federation of BiH (FBiH), all cantons recorded an increase in the number of registrations, ranging from 1.5 to 3 percent.
Over 41% of registered vehicles in BiH are older than 22 years, and more than 60 percent of the fleet is older than 13 years.
According to BIHAMK data, we can see that the number of vehicles older than 26 years is unfortunately still almost 1/5 of the total vehicle fleet, while the number of vehicles with Euro 3 and Euro 4 engines makes up almost half of the total number of registered motor vehicles.
Observing the participation of individual brands of new passenger and commercial motor vehicles on BiH roads, in 2022 the best-selling brand was Skoda with 1.226 sold or 16.11% of the total number of new passenger and commercial motor vehicles sold.
Skoda is followed by Volkswagen with 950 or 12.48% of vehicles sold, which means that compared to the previous year, these two brands have switched places on the table.
Toyota, with 677 vehicles sold or 8.89% of the total number of new passenger and commercial vehicles sold, ranks third. Nissan sold the fewest vehicles last year (30), Klix.ba reports.
