The Chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency, Denis Becirovic, spoke with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania Viktorija Cmilytė-Nielsen in Vilnius as part of his official visit to the Republic of Lithuania.
Becirovic informed the President about the current political and security situation in BiH and the region. He thanked for the support that Lithuania has provided to BiH on the path to the European Union (EU) and NATO.
Cmilytė-Nielsen said that Lithuania supports the EU enlargement policy, as well as the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of BiH. She said that BiH‘s membership in the EU and NATO would strengthen the security of Southeast Europe and ensure prosperity for all citizens in BiH. She emphasized that Lithuania has important and rich experiences gained in the joint implementation of EU projects, and that it is ready to share them with BiH.
Interest was also expressed in improving the ties between the two countries through the intensification of cooperation between the parliaments of the two friendly countries. During the conversation, the interlocutors agreed that even on the multilateral level, the cooperation between BiH and the Republic of Lithuania is very good, but that there is a common interest in further strengthening, especially when it comes to cooperation in international organizations and institutions, announced the Cabinet of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Becirovic.
