The Board of Directors of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) today appointed Ismet Gavrankapetanović as the general director of this institution, it was confirmed for Klix.ba.
The decision on the appointment of Gavrankapetanović will be forwarded to the Federal Minister of Health Nediljko Rimac for confirmation.
The commission for conducting the selection procedure for the general director of KCUS submitted the ranking list of candidates to the Board of Directors of KCUS after the interviews.
After submitting the documentation, Gavrankapetanović received the maximum number of points, i.e. 75. In the race for the position of director of the largest health institution in BiH, there were also Alen Pilav who received 68 points and Mevludin Mekić who received 63 points.
Gavrankapetanović is currently the director of the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abulah Nakaš” in Sarajevo, and in the coming days a competition will be announced for the selection of a new director.
He was born in 1962 in Sarajevo, where he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1986. Two years later, he defended his doctoral thesis.
He spent three decades at KCUS where, during the period of aggression against our country, he was available to his fellow citizens in the most difficult days of the war.
He was the head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology of KCUS, director of the Institute for Scientific Research and Development of KCUS.
In 2004, he was elected as an associate professor at the Department of Surgery and War Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo, in 2007 as the head of the Department, and in 2010 as a full professor.
For acting director at the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš” was appointed in 2020, and a year later he was appointed director.
He received his master’s degree in management, majoring in quality management in healthcare at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo in 2020.
He actively speaks English, French and Arabic.
After the dismissal of Sebija Izetbegović from the head of this health care institution, the duty of acting the director is surgeon Alen Pilav, who has been part of the KCUS team for 30 years.
