The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, expressed his satisfaction because he met with the ministers of foreign affairs of the Balkan countries in Vienna as part of the “Friends of the Balkans” and “Strategy of the Danube Region” programs.
“I am glad that I met with the ministers of foreign affairs of the Balkans. We talked about how to build together a Europe that will be more united,” he wrote on the “X” platform.
Borelj thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Alexander Shallenberg for the meetings in Austria.
Schallenberg said yesterday that the new convocation of the European Commission will be elected soon and that the EU advocates that all candidate states that are part of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) become members of the Union in the next five years.
“We have a human bridge to this region and significant economic cooperation,” he said.
He said that any platform for cooperation, including the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, is good for candidate countries.
“We want all the countries that gather EUSDR, which are not members of the European Union to become so. We expect that their integration into the EU will be at the top of the agenda of the new European Commission”, pointed out Shallenberg.
