Bosnia and Herzegovina records 70 Percent Decrease in Tourist Arrivals

In the period January – June 2020, tourists made 209,802 visits, which is less by 70.6 percent and 500,585 overnight stays, which is less by 65.6 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists decreased by 53.0 percent, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists decreased by 71.1 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The share of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays is 41.6 percent, while the share of foreign tourists is 58.4 percent.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most overnight stays were realized by tourists from Croatia (32.6%), Serbia (20.3%), Slovenia (6.1%), Turkey (4.0%), Montenegro (3.7%). ), Germany (3.0%), China (2.3%), Italy and Austria (with 2.0% each), for a total of 76.0%.

Tourists from other countries realized 24.0% of overnight stays.

Regarding the length of stay of foreign tourists in our country, in the first place are tourists from Iran with 12.2 nights, South Africa with 5.6 nights, Kuwait with 4.9 nights, and Cyprus with 4.1 nights. According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was realized within the activity hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 92.0%.
