Due to the increased interest of the public and the media, caused by the deteriorating epidemiological situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in connection with the procurement of drugs and medical devices to prevent the spread and treatment of infectious diseases COVID-19, Ministry of Civil Affairs announced that, in accordance with the competencies defined by law, it is implementing activities on the procurement of health countermeasures and vaccines.
In this regard, an was signed between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Global Alliance for Vaccines on the procurement of vaccines for the population of BiH.
Based on the same principle, the Agreement on Joint Public Procurement of Medical Countermeasures was signed.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs has harmonized with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republika Srpska, the Federal Ministry of Health and the Department of Health and Other Services of the Brcko District, mutual rights and obligations regarding vaccine procurement through the mechanism for global access to COVID-19 vaccine and joint public procurement of medical countermeasure.
By signing an agreement with the Global Vaccine Alliance, Bosnia and Herzegovina noted that it will be among the first countries in the world to receive vaccines against COVID – 19. 1,232,000 doses of potential vaccine were ordered for 20% of the population with a comprehensive average price per dose of 10.55 U.S. dollars.
Under the Joint Public Procurement Agreement for Health Countermeasures, which applies in cases of serious cross-border threats to public health by enabling the joint purchase of medicines, medical equipment and supplies, procurement activities for Remedesivir are currently underway.
