For 17 years, Emin Ljutic from Gornji Vakuf has been spending his pension on the two bears he takes care of.
Namely, Emin adopted Laka and bought Gvida after his mother was killed by poachers. Laka slept in bed with Emin for eight months because he was sick.
Emin is 71 years old. His neighbor helps him take care of the bears. He brings apples, cucumbers, whatever food is left he brings to him, while Emin buys corn.
He loves bears, and they understand him very well, although taking care of for them is tiring.
Society showed no interest in helping him.
Emin is one of the few Bosnians who won a court case against the state, because the inspectors wrote a finding that he could not keep the bears but that they had to be euthanized.
The court ruled in Emin’s favor because the state, ie the Central Bosnia Canton, does not have an asylum for bears. In 17 years, Emin claims that he spent at least 150 thousand BAM on them.
