
Mayor of Sarajevo Komsic recalled that the two cities are connected by history and the cooperation of these two Mayors began 2 years ago with special events – opening of the renovated Sarajevo City Hall and hosting of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Komsic emphasized that Sarajevo is collaborating with many cities, but that this is the first agreement of cooperation that was signed in a renovated building of the City Hall.
The Mayor of Bad Ischl emphasized that it is important to remember the joint history that connects these two cities, and in the context of the Cooperation Agreement that was signed today, he emphasized the importance of involvement of citizens in order to achieve the highest quality cultural, sports and political cooperation of Sarajevo and Bad Ischl.
In the delegation of Bad Ischl were also members of the local brass band that performed in the lobby of City Hall, and then walked through the city to the cathedral where they held a half-hour concert for the citizens of Sarajevo. They will participate in the celebrations of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, which will be held tomorrow.
Austrian Ambassador Martin Pammer attended the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between Sarajevo and Bad Ischl, and in the artistic part of the program participated the Quartet of accordions of Sarajevo Music High School.
The assassination of the Austro-Hungarian heir to the throne took place on the 28th of June 1914 in Sarajevo, and a month later in Bad Ischl, a manifesto called “To my people” was signed that announced the beginning of the World War I.
