The Brčko District trade union unanimously decided to organize, instead of the May Day morning, a peaceful protest walk for the International Labor Day “May Day” due to dissatisfaction with the conditions in which the workers in the District find themselves.
At the meeting of the Trade Union presidency, the information that the mayor’s office has not yet received a response to the request of the leaders of that organization to discuss the demands of the Trade Union with the newly elected mayor Zijad Nišić was analyzed.
“We consider it a form of denigration of our role and position as a trade union, and we will inform the international trade union institutions, as well as the supervisor, about this,” said the president of the District Trade Union, Igor Babić.
He stated that, if there are some positive developments in the meantime, the May Day protest walk will be held.
The trade union of Brčko District launched one-hour warning strikes in several public institutions in the District, demanding a linear salary increase for all employees in the public administration in the amount of 250 BAM, then payment of travel expenses for all employees who are not residents of the District, as well as the inclusion of their representatives in the working class. the group for drafting a new law on salaries of Brčko District.
