Former Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, General Sir Patrick Sanders, who served in this role until last month, has issued a stark warning about the possibility of a third world war.
He emphasized that the world is facing its most dangerous moment since 1945 and urged NATO members to invest more in armaments.
General Sanders pointed to Russia, China, and Iran as the “new axis powers,” asserting that a global conflict could erupt within the next five years unless significant actions are taken.
He claimed these countries pose a greater threat than the Nazis did in 1939.
“They are more interdependent and coordinated than the original Axis powers ever were,” Sanders stated.
However, the military expert stressed that conflict can still be averted if NATO countries, including the United Kingdom (UK), substantially enhance their military capabilities.
“Most assessments will tell you that we have somewhere between five and ten years before Russia recapitalizes and can pose the same threat it did before the war in Ukraine,” said Sir Patrick, Klix.ba writes.
