Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina mr. sc. Josip Brkić led the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH at the bilateral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the Republic of Serbia, held today in Sarajevo. The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was led by State Secretary Damjan Jović.
During the talks, the officials exchanged opinions on current issues of bilateral relations, regional cooperation and European integration. The importance of continuous dialogue and good neighborly relations, exchange of visits at all levels, as well as improvement of political and economic cooperation, including trade exchange, investments and infrastructure projects, was emphasized. The possibilities of strengthening cooperation through educational and cultural programs, including participation in international initiatives, were also discussed.
They also discussed joint involvement in regional initiatives that contribute to stability, connecting the region and bringing them closer to membership in the European Union. In this context, experiences and information about the European integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia were exchanged, with an emphasis on the importance of mutual cooperation in this area. Deputy Minister Brkić pointed out that membership in the European Union remains a strategic goal and the highest priority of the foreign policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
State Secretary Jović expressed the readiness of the Republic of Serbia to continue building constructive relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, while respecting mutual interests and common goals. Both sides agreed to continue regular consultations and work on projects of mutual importance, including energy, educational, cultural and trade initiatives, as well as joint activities within the framework of European integration and regional cooperation.
