Karate club “Neretva“ from Mostar is one of the most successful clubs in the region. Its members never leave a competition, whether local or international without winning awards and medals. In the last few years, special attention is drawn to brothers Veselko and Marin Brkić who dominate their category at various competitions. Numerous medals may attest to their success.
They both carry the brown belt in karate. As some of their biggest achievements, Veselko and Marin count all the first places and medals from previous competitions. They won the gold medal on the International tournament in Belgrade as the Belgrade winner, Christmas Cup in Zagreb, first place at the Cro Open in Rijeka, ”Grand Prix Croatia” in Samobor, International karate tournament ” Trophy of Bar” and many more. In total, Veselko and his brother Marin have more than 200 medals.
In October 2012, Veselko became the champion of B&H. He says that it is his dearest medal and his biggest success so far. On the same day, Marin became the triple champion of B&H. Their role models are Rafael Agajev, Mate Odak, Oliver Mandarić and Mensur Cakić.
On the 8th of February 2013, brothers Brkić competed as the members of the representation of B&H at the 40th European Championship for cadets and juniors as well as at the 5th European Cup for U-21 in Konya. Both of them won silver medals and became European vice- champions in karate.
