Romania said on Monday that a drone had violated Romanian airspace during a Russian attack on infrastructure in neighboring Ukraine, days after Poland condemned the entry of Russian drones into Polish territory.
The Romanian military has sent two F-16 fighter jets to monitor the situation regarding the bombing of Ukrainian territory. They detected the drone in Romanian airspace, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The aircraft was tracked until it disappeared from radar.
“The drone was not flying over populated areas and did not pose an immediate threat to the population in Romania, which, like Poland, is a NATO member,” the ministry said.
