The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH) has initiated proceedings against Milorad Dodik for hate speech expressed during his address at a gathering in Istocno Sarajevo.

The CEC assessed that the content of Dodik’s statements could constitute hate speech, and in the coming days, a procedure will be conducted to determine responsibility in accordance with the Election Law of BiH.

The procedure was initiated following numerous public reactions and condemnations from political representatives from the Federation of BiH (FBiH), who described Dodik’s performance as a classic example of hate speech and called on the competent institutions to respond.

The Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the FBiH earlier assessed that such public appearances incite interethnic intolerance and undermine the constitutional order and fundamental values of BiH.

It should be mentioned that the CEC of BiH earlier revoked Dodik’s mandate as president of the entity Republika Srpska (RS) after the Court of BiH confirmed a final verdict finding him guilty of failing to comply with the decisions of the High Representative.

The decision to initiate new proceedings comes at a time when the election campaign for the early elections for the president of the entity RS has officially begun.
