The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sent a letter to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the State Parliament, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Finance of Bosnia and Herzegovina to secure the money needed to hold local elections in October this year.
Given that the beginning of May is the legal deadline for announcing elections, and the institutions of BiH are still on the regime of temporary financing, the CEC of BiH reminds the authorities of the obligation to secure the money within 15 days at the latest from the date of the decision on announcing elections, regardless of whether funds are allocated from the regular budget or through temporary financing.
Two years ago, the High Representative resolved all potential blockages of election financing by imposing a decision that ensures permanent, systemic solutions for automatic and continuous election financing. Therefore, the funding is not threatened, and as it was told for our television, the letter of the CEC of BiH should only be understood as a warning to the authorities to complete their obligations on time.
