The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, spoke on Tuesday in Brussels with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, about the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Krišto thanked President Michel and the European Council for their continued support and the granting of BiH candidate status. She emphasized that this is an additional incentive for accelerating reform processes on the way to the EU.
President of the European Council Michel congratulated Chairperson Krišto and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on today’s adopted Program of Economic Reforms of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2023 – 2025, which represents a strong step forward on the European path.
Krišto said that the 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission remain in the focus of the work of the BiH Council of Ministers in the coming period, but that for the successful continuation of the reform process, it is important to complete the process of establishing government at all levels.
She also emphasized the crucial importance of electoral legislation reform, in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. The reform of the electoral legislation would further relax the political relations within the country, and the focus of all levels of government would be directed towards the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She added that the Council of Ministers of BiH confirmed the draft budget of BiH institutions and international obligations of BiH for the year 2023, which stabilizes the work of BiH institutions and enables the continuation of planned reform activities.
Krišto and Michel agreed that the issue of migration is of key importance for preserving security in the region, as well as the European Union, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
