Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia this week between May 7th and 10th, the Kremlin announced yesterday. Xi will attend the parade in Moscow marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The Chinese president will also hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian president’s office announced.

It was announced that Xi and Putin will discuss the development of partnerships and strategic ties, as well as international and regional challenges.

It is expected that the Russian and Chinese governments and ministers will also sign several bilateral documents, the office said.

Putin on Monday declared a three-day ceasefire in the conflict with Ukraine between May 8th and 10th. This will coincide with the anniversary of Victory Day over Nazi Germany on May 9th. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the ceasefire, calling it an attempt at manipulation.
