This year’s Cinema Night attracted more than 4,000 visitors! Cinema Night, with free admission to seven cinemas in Sarajevo, was held for the fifth year in a row, organized by Sarajevo, UNESCO City of Film, and the City of Sarajevo, and the project partner is UNIQA Insurance.
On Cinema Night, December 16, from 5 p.m. to midnight, free admission to films was available in the following cinemas: Cineplexx, CineStar, Dom kulture Ilidža – Kino Igman, Free Kino Valter, Kino Meeting Point, Kinoteka BiH and Kvartovsko Kino Grbavica, and more than 4,000 viewers attended the screenings of films for all generations.
Sarajevo, UNESCO City of Film, is organizing Cinema Night symbolically at the time when the Lumière brothers held the first cinema screening in the world, in 1895 in Paris. This event was designed based on the French film festival – La Fête du Cinéma, which has been held in France for almost 40 years, is eagerly awaited and attracts a large number of visitors.
The event is already traditionally anticipated and held in Sarajevo, the city that was officially declared the UNESCO City of Film in 2019. As a proud member of the global UNESCO Network of Creative Cities, the City of Sarajevo, through the creative field of film, strives to offer rich and varied cultural and film content available to all citizens and visitors of Sarajevo, supporting events such as Cinema Night.
And this year, in Cinema Night, we celebrated film art and the wealth of domestic, regional and world cinema together.
