Strategically very important, this city experienced a real renaissance during the Middle Ages, and especially after the arrival of Ottomans. They considered it as the “key of Bosnia“, and it was the most important fortress of the entire Bosnian pashaluk.
The position and importance of Bihac didn’t get weaker by the arrival of the Astro-Hungarian rule in 1878. The town got a hydro power plant, sewage and water supply as well as the modern, concrete bridge.
Today, Bihac is one of the biggest cities in B&H. Located in the far northwest of the country. It is still the important regional center and an administrative center of the Una Sana Canton.

The Una River has defined Bihać, the city and municipality for centuries. The waterfalls in Štrbački buk and Martinbrod are widely known.
