Families of victims escorted the coffins from Visoko with cry and prayers and paid them tribute in Ilijas, Vogosca and Sarajevo. Families put white roses on the truck and with trembling hands touched the truck to say goodbye for the last times to their fathers, husbands, sons, brothers and other family members who were forcibly torn from their hugs, hands and life.
There was a total silence while coffins were taken out from the truck in Potocari.
Suad Dzanic after 21 years came to bury the remains of his father Jusuf who was executed during the persecution of Srebrenica. They identified his clothes in Tuzla and DNA is matching. He noted that he never found the peace.
Munira Mujic will bury the remains of her father, whose bones were found 4 years ago, but the parts of his body are still missing.
“We will never find the peace. Our souls are soaked with blood. Let them rest in peace,” said Munira.
Granddaughter of Avdo Fejzic, Hanifa Omerovic, waited for her grandfather’s bones with her family in Potocari.
“Six years ago, my uncle was informed that they found several fingers and ribs, we will not bury the whole body. The whole family is here,” said Hanifa.
Almir Salihovic was 17 years old when he was killed by the aggressor in Srebrenica. His cousin Mina Salihovic is mourning over his coffin. Mina says that her husband’s bones were never found, and that her daughter did not even remember her father.
“It feels like I am going through all of it again, I hear shots in my head all over again. We can never forget what happened here. My husband has never been found,” said Mina, who is in Potocari with her daughter and mother in law.
The youngest victim who will be buried on the 11th of July is the 14-year-old Avdija (Emin) Memic, and the oldest one is 98-year-old Mustafa (Hajro) Hadzovic.
