Commercial banks in the Republika Srpska achieved a net profit of 78.3 million BAM in the first half of the year, which is about 22 percent more than the same period last year, the Banking Agency of the Republika Srpska announced.
The total income of banks in the mentioned period amounted to 261.5 million BAM and is higher by about nine percent compared to the first six months of last year, and the total expenditure is 177 million BAM and is higher by four percent compared to the first half of 2021.
Interest income amounted to 158.3 million BAM and is higher by about six percent, operating income is 103.2 million BAM and is higher by about 12 percent, while interest expenses and similar expenses are 25.7 million BAM /lower by about 13 percent/, business and direct expenses 31.1 million BAM /higher by about 22 percent/, and operating expenses 120.1 million BAM /higher by about four percent/.
The total deposits of the banking sector in the Republika Srpska in six months amounted to about 7.11 billion BAM, of which 54.2 percent refers to deposits of individuals, 14.8 percent to private companies and societies, and 13.1 percent to the Government and its institutions.
Total loans amounted to about 5.78 billion BAM, of which 50.2 percent refers to the population, 34.4 percent to private companies and societies, and 10 percent to the Government and its institutions.
In the first half of the year, there were eight banks operating in the RS, which employed 2,951 people.
