Competition for Balkan Journalism Scholarship 2014 Opened

Experienced journalists from Albania, B&H, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia are invited to apply for the seventh competition of the Balkan scholarship award for journalistic excellence. For the first time this competition is open to journalists from Greece, who are invited to participate in this renowned media program.

ERSTE foundation and foundation for Open Society, in collaboration with the Balkan research network BIRN, is implementing the Balkan scholarship program for journalistic excellence, aiming to support qualitative research, connection of journalists on the regional level and objective report on important topics for the region and EU.

10 journalists, who receive funding and professional support are selected every year during this competition. The topic of this year is “Generations”.

The applicants, who will be selected will receive a scholarship in the amount of 200o Euros, and 200o Euros more for travel and research expenses.

Also, they will be able to improve their work through participation in international seminars in cooperation with internationally famous editors. The three best articles will receive awards in the amount of 4000, 3000 and 1000 Euros.
