SCCA Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Foundation for Civil Society and Thrust for Mutual Understanding from New York founded the annual award for young artists under 35 years of age called ‘Zvono’.
The award is given to quality and innovation, for artistic works created during the past two years. The works of art include painting, sculpture, prints, drawings, installations, photographs, videos, new media and performances.
The award for young artists B&H got the name based on the group ‘Zvono’ (Aleksandar Bukvić, Sadko Hadžihasanović, Narcis Kantardžić, Sead Čizmić, Biljana Gavranović and Kemal Hadžić), founded in 1982 in Sarajevo.
The activities of the group ‘Zvono’ represents the most radical behavior on the B&H art scene until the start of the war in 1992, when most of the members left the country.
The annual award for young artists B&H ‘Zvono’ means overcoming discontinuity in B&H art and the wish of the organizers to encourage innovative artistic practice today.
The competition for the annual award ‘Zvono’ is open until 5 May this year, and all thos who are interested can send their applications to the address Ćumurija 3/II, 71 000 Sarajevo, BiH or by mail at scca@scca.ba.
‘Zvono’ award is given out to one artist. The award consists of a six-week stay in New York, announced SCCA.
