Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Edin Forto (NS) spoke about the possibilities of reconstruction of the Doboj – Tuzla – Zvornik railway and what this reconstruction would bring.
As announced by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH, Forto discussed this project after yesterday’s meeting in Sarajevo with representatives responsible for railway infrastructure.
“We want to start a complete reconstruction of the railway line from Doboj to Zvornik and further towards Serbia. We have a strong interest from Serbia to jointly apply for grants from the European Union (EU) in the coming period for this railway to become the lifeblood of the largest industrial region in BiH,” he said.
If funds are secured, this project could be realized in four to five years, and according to estimates, it would cost around 500 million euros. In this regard, further discussions with the World Bank on accessing grants were announced.
The Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republika Srpska (RS) Nedeljko Cubrilovic (DEMOS) recalled the exceptional importance of this corridor for the economy of the Tuzla, Sarajevo, and Banja Luka regions and the connection with the Port of Ploce and Serbia, announced the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH.
