Construction of LOT 2C of Sarajevo Bypass to start

13020093_1759221334314543_1466366612_nMayor of the Municipality Novi Grad Sarajevo, Semir Efendic handed over to Mirsad Dizdarevic, project coordinator of Sarajevo bypass from PC Roads of Federation, construction permit to start with the construction of the first phase of LOT 2C. Thus were created conditions for the beginning of construction of the last section of Sarajevo bypass, which will connect roundabout in Brijesce with Safeta Zajke Street.

“It is a great thing that we are starting with the construction of the last section of the Sarajevo bypass. This story lasts for 10 years. That’s how long has been since the Government of FBiH took the loan for the construction of the Sarajevo bypass. In June this year, the credit arrangement will be closed and the funds that are not withdrawn until then will be no longer available for use. That part of the road was not projected, nor property rights relations were resolved, so at the end of last year we had meetings with representatives of PC Roads of Federation, the Prime Minister of the Government of FBiH and we agreed to go with the realization of this important project. The municipality, in cooperation with the Canton Sarajevo, took the responsibility to resolve property issues, and the Roads of Federation took care of procedure of selecting a contractor and financing the construction of LOT 2C,” said Mayor Semir Efendic.

He added that while works on the first phase are lasting, which includes the actual building of the bridge (pergola) over the railway, they will solve the rest of the property rights relations.

The value of contracted works amounts to around 9.5 million BAM and 4.2 million BAM for property relations, which means that the project will cost around 14 million BAM in total.

The construction of the last section of the Sarajevo bypass is very important for the capital of BiH. Except that it will further reduce traffic congestion, although after building the first section of the Sarajevo bypass it was greatly reduced, it is in some way a prerequisite to Sarajevo to go to realization of the construction of the highway in the future, which would fuse with LOT 2C and the train station.

Project coordinator Mirsad Dizdarevic said that the contractor will be introduced with the job in a few days, and that they will work on the most demanding part of the route.

“After signing the contract with the selected contractor, the contractor will be introduced with the job. With this project, the city of Sarajevo will resolve the issue of entry and exit from the city in the best possible way. According to our estimates, the first phase will be completed in 4 to 5 months,” said Dizdarevic. Works will be performed by respectable local company Euro-Asfalt and ZGP, who have successfully worked on LOT 1 and 2, as well as Sarajevo bypass.

Execution of works will not affect the traffic flow, and there will be no traffic jams, because the works will be carried out on the corridors outside of city roads.
