Construction of the first public underground garage in the municipality of Stari Grad, which will cost 6.2 million BAM, has officially began this week.

The garage is built in Avdage Sahinagic Street, across the City Hall, on a surface of 3,500 square meters, Akta.ba portal reports.

It is planned to have two floors and 155 parking spaces, and besides the parking lot, citizens will also get a new multipurpose square.

The works will be done by the company “Dzekos” and it is expected to be finished in six months.

“This will be the largest public garage in Sarajevo, and the only one because the underground garages that are in use are located in private facilities and market centers. Also, a square will be built that will be suitable for various events, ” said the mayor of Stari Grad municipality Ibrahim Hadzibajric.

“We estimate that the garage will generate a profit of about 60,000 BAM per month, while the payment will amount to about 53-54,000 BAM, which means that we will pay out all four projects with the income from the garage,” said Hadzibajric and explained that without this, the municipality could have gotten a loan,”  Hadzibajric added.
