Deputy Minister of Defense for Policy and Plans Slaven Galic received in a farewell visit the outgoing military attache of the Republic of Austria in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Brigadier Erich Simburger, and in an inaugural visit, Brigadier Christian Hahn, the new military attache of Austria in BiH.
With words of welcome, Deputy Galic emphasized during the meeting with the military attaches of the Republic of Austria that the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH) and the Republic of Austria remain committed partners, sincere and open in every form of cooperation, with a clear vision “that guides us toward Euro-Atlantic integration, NATO membership, and membership in the European Union (EU).”
Bilateral cooperation between the BiH Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Austria is very substantial and fruitful, at the desired level, stated the press release from the Public Relations Office of the BiH Ministry of Defense.
Deputy Galic thanked Brigadier Simburger for the cooperation to date and wished him success and health in life and work. He welcomed the new military attache of the Republic of Austria, Brigadier Hahn, with words of support for the continuation of the so far very successful cooperation in the field of defense between the two countries.
The bilateral defense cooperation plan with the Republic of Austria for the year 2025 contains a total of 72 activities (34 activities in the Republic of Austria and 38 activities in BiH). This represents a significant step forward compared to last year’s plan, which included 51 activities. The plan encompasses activities such as the education of BiH cadets at the Theresian Military Academy, participation of members of the AFBiH in an international seminar at the Theresian Military Academy, exchange of instructors from BiH’s Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) and Austria’s Austrian Armed Forces International Centre (AUTINT), attendance of courses in the Republic of Austria, expert talks, development of the LOGIS Logistics Information System, implementation of the NATO Codification System (NCS), continuation of engagement of Mobile Training Teams (MTT) in the field of engineering through EUFOR, and other activities.
