“Work on the excavation of the tunnel Igman took place every day, 24 hours a day in three shifts. Dozens of workers were engaged in piercing the tunnel and many construction machines”, said Ensad Karić, Director of FB&H Autoceste.
According to FB&H Autoceste, the tunnel was dug by using the so-called Austrian methods, the most modern method in tunneling.
The subsection Vlakovo-Lepenica is 10 kilometers long. Works on this subsection were conducted by the Turkish company Cengiz Insaat, in partnership with many local construction companies (Euroasfalt d.o.o. Sarajevo, Hering d.d. Široki Brijeg, Deling d.o.o. Tuzla, A3 d.o.o. Široki Brijeg, Butmir d.o.o. Sarajevo i HP Investing d.o.o. Mostar). 350 million BAM is the contract value, of which 200 million BAM will belong to local companies.
This subsection is part of the section Vlakovo-Tarčin 20 kilometers long. So far, in this section apart from tunnel Igman are pierced tunnel Vis and tunnel Gaj.
The completion of the entire section Vlakovo – Tarčin will be done by the end of this summer, which connect Zenica with Tarčin by highway.
