Court of BiH sentenced Mirza Kapic for Planing a Terrorist Attack

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Mirza Kapić to four and a half years in prison for planning a terrorist attack on a mosque in Zenica in 2023.

In addition to the prison sentence, Kapić was also ordered to undergo mandatory psychiatric treatment.

Kapić was found guilty of having, in mid-2023, with the aim of seriously intimidating the population and destabilizing society, used internet applications via mobile phones to plan and execute an attack on a mosque in Zenica, which he would carry out by placing an explosive device, Birn reports.

This verdict has been allowed to be appealed to the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH.

He was sentenced to a single sentence of one year and ten months in prison by an earlier verdict of the Court of BiH, because on July 15, 2013, he traveled to Istanbul, from where he illegally crossed the border and entered Syria with the intention of fighting on the side of the so-called Islamic State, where he stayed until August 25, 2013, BIRN writes.
