The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is visiting Croatia, and as part of his regional tour, yesterday he met with the President of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic. Among other things, they discussed the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
At the press conference organized after the meeting, Milanovicemphasized that good intentions can be seen from the conversation, which lasted for an hour, but also insufficient information with mutual views.
Also, he added that he was critical, and still is, when it comes to the role of the high representative and that he was elected in an irregular manner, without the consent of all members of the Security Council. From the start, according to Milanovic, this denies him legitimacy in every way.
“I said at the NATO summit that the high representative should finally show signs of life and use his authority if nothing else works, and nothing else works anymore. I honestly did not believe that anything would happen, but when it did, in a completely wrong way, with the wrong methodology, too late, it caused unrest, almost a riot in the country, so the gentleman moved back. I don’t know what is happening now, but that case only shows that when you resort to some measures too late and too little where there should have been an agreement before that and conversation, then there are no results,” Milanovic noted.
“If he does something, I will have to admit that I am satisfied with that, and Mr. Erdogan and I, Croatia and Turkey, differ in this. This shows that they need more detailed discussion to highlight some of our fears, which Turkey, due to its distance and size, is not aware of Croatian politics is a complete, functional BiH, with which Croatia will be in a good position and BiH will be in a good position with Croatia, and sometimes even in boring position, well, that’s not bad either,” Milanovic said, Klix.ba writes.
