After extensive research, the crown of King Tomislav was made, which was presented for the purpose of photography in recent days in the Carmel of St. Elijah on Lake Buško near Tomislavgrad.
The crown was presented today on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian kingdom and the coronation of King Tomislav on Duvanjsko polje, which will be celebrated next year in Tomislavgrad.
Related to the announced event, and as part of a multi-year project called “Contemporary Interpretation of History” carried out by the Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture in BiH “Stećak” from Tomislavgrad with the support of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and the Municipality of Tomislavgrad, all historical segments, research , ethnographic and artistic.
On the same occasion, two years ago, at the musical stage spectacle held on Ganga Square and the Hajduk troupe in Tomislavgrad, under the name “To meet the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian kingdom and the coronation of King Tomislav on Duvanjsko polje”, the then royal crown, uniform and sword of King Tomislav were reconstructed.
The conceptual solution and the actual production of the royal crown that was presented these days was made by the academic sculptor Ilija Skočibušić from Duvan.
“The crown is made of silver and is gilded. On the crown are old Croatian symbols that were most used in that period, peacocks as royal birds, precious stones as a symbol of wealth, wicker as the oldest symbol that Croats bring with them and crosses as a symbol of belonging to the Catholic faith, with the fact that the front most prominent cross is a replica of the tobacco cross found in the vicinity of Lake Buški,” Skočibušić explained to Fena news agency.
