Cvijanovic: Unlike Becirovic, I do not pretend to speak on behalf of all of BiH

The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, responded to the allegations of BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović, stating that she does not intend to “act as if she is speaking on behalf of all of BiH” at the upcoming session of the United Nations Security Council.

When asked to comment on Bećirović’s statement that she should represent, as she says, the views of the state of BiH at the session, but that judging by her views, she is acting in an unconstitutional and illegal manner, Cvijanović replied that the Constitution of BiH stated who is who in the Presidency and what the position of BiH can be.

“As he spoke before, so I speak now. And to make a little joke, that is the charm of BiH,” Cvijanović told Srna news agency.

Regarding Bećirović’s announcement that she will inform the Secretary-General of the United Nations and ambassadors to the Security Council about her views today, Cvijanović said that she “really is not interested in his position at all, nor what he will write to whom, nor is he the one who evaluates her views”.

As a reminder, BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović, speaking about what he expects from the UN Security Council session, said today that these are regular sessions and that last year he only addressed the UN Security Council sessions three times.

“The High Representative will submit a report. The majority of the Security Council knows very well who the main causes of the crisis in BiH are and there is no dilemma about that. It would be good if a member of the BiH Presidency, the current chairperson Željka Cvijanović, represented the views of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because she is there on behalf of the BiH Presidency. However, judging by her views, she is obviously acting in an unconstitutional and illegal manner, contrary to all adopted strategies and laws of the state of BiH. Today I will inform the Secretary-General of the United Nations, as well as the ambassadors to the United Nations Security Council, about this in detail,” said Bećirović.
