The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović (SNSD) has warned that she will seek to “freeze” the relationship between the Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if that relationship does not change.
After today’s meeting with the party leader and president of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik in Banja Luka, she spoke at the press conference about the coalition of the state government, which includes SNSD, HDZ, SDP, NiP and NS parties.
Speaking about it, she said that the intention was to prevent the authorities from, as she stated, free shooters when it comes to decision-making and projects. According to her, we are still not in a situation to unblock projects that would benefit all citizens.
Cvijanović does not think that a coalition is at work at the state level, but, as she called it, a collection of political parties. She is particularly dissatisfied with the making of foreign policy decisions.
“I will say that there has been no departure from the old and strange practices in foreign policy, given that we have different positions, that the instructions of the Ministry (of Foreign Affairs) regarding certain missions are different from what was agreed,” she pointed out.
She noted that when making foreign policy decisions, a veto can be passed, which needs to be approved by the National Assembly of the RS (NSRS). She said she would use the veto if necessary. As he claims, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must implement the decisions of the Presidency, i.e. that there should be restraint if there is a difference of opinion among the members of the Presidency.
For her, the problem is that very often there is no possibility of using the veto, because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as she said, often asks the Presidency for an opinion the day before voting in international institutions. She warned of the possibility, as she stated, of the freezing of relations between the Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I will insist that the situation changes, even if it means the freezing of relations between the two institutions. I tried to make an agreement so that we don’t fall into a trap,” emphasized Cvijanović, who did not specify what “freezing” would mean.
As she stated, she demands that everyone behaves in accordance with the constitution, Klix.ba reports.
