Vice President of Republika Srpska Davor Pranjić signed a decree promulgating the Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, officially declaring that Milorad Dodik has transferred his powers to him.
The transfer of powers followed after the Central Election Commission of BiH stripped Dodik of his mandate as President of Republika Srpska, based on a final judgment of the Court of BiH.
The decree promulgating, with the full text of the law, was published in today’s Official Gazette of Republika Srpska.
As a reminder, the Court of BiH found Dodik guilty of committing the criminal offense of failure to implement the decisions of the High Representative, for which he was sentenced to one year in prison, which was commuted to a fine. He was also given a security measure of banning him from exercising the duties of President of Republika Srpska for six years, from the date the judgment became final.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has called early elections for the President of Republika Srpska.
The elections are scheduled for November 23, and 6.4 million BAM is needed to hold them. The money for the elections has not yet been secured, as the Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Srđan Amidžić, refused to sign the decision. His deputy, Muhamed Hasanović, then signed the decision, but has not yet received Amidžić’s stamp for the decision to be valid.
