The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, spoke today in Brussels with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Alexander De Croo.
According to the office of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, this is an important meeting, considering that the Kingdom of Belgium chairs the Council of the European Union from January 1 to June 30 this year.
Bećirović pointed out the importance of Belgium’s six-month presidency of the Council of the EU, and thanked for the concrete support that the Kingdom of Belgium provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to European integration. He particularly emphasized the importance of the opening of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Sarajevo, as well as the fact that this year marks 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the conversation, Bećirović pointed out the possibilities of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, saying that the current level of trade exchange could be improved.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina is open to Belgian investors, so the work of the newly opened Chamber of Commerce of Belgium and Luxembourg in Bosnia and Herzegovina will further contribute to the establishment of institutional cooperation and the connection of businessmen of the two countries,” said Bećirović.
De Croo congratulated Bećirović on the opening of EU negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the readiness of the Kingdom of Belgium to support Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European integration processes.
“In the coming period, Bosnia and Herzegovina will face important tasks in terms of harmonizing with European norms and standards. Getting closer to the EU will contribute to the economic strengthening of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the rule of law,” concluded De Croo.
