The Israeli army is preparing an implementation plan to “ensure that Iran cannot return and threaten Israel,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz told senior military officials.

He said that the army must be ready, in terms of intelligence and operations, in order to ensure Israel’s air superiority and prevent Tehran from re-establishing its capabilities.

He made his comments after a 12-day air conflict between longtime enemies in June, during which Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities, stating that the goal was to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

Iran denies that it seeks nuclear weapons and claims that its nuclear program is intended solely for peaceful purposes.

Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire mediated by the United States (U.S.), which ended hostilities on June 24th.
