The delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomed the agreement reached by the managements of the Radiotelevision of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Radiotelevision of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, as stated, will make available the financing of the immediate needs of both broadcasters.
“Activities must now be undertaken to ensure the long-term sustainability of public broadcasting in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is in line with the priorities on the way to the European Union,” said the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
General directors of Radiotelevision of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) Belmin Karamehmedović and Radiotelevision of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RTV FBiH) Džemal Šabić signed an agreement on business cooperation, with the mediation of the state Ministry of Communications and Transport.
From the BHRT’s administrative uniform, they pointed out that this agreement represents a step in solving the never-more-difficult situation in which BHRT found itself.
“After the agony and uncertainty for this media company and its workers, which lasted half a year, the funds collected on the account of Elektroprivreda BiH from the RTV tax will be distributed in the coming days,” they stated.
The Board of Directors of BHRT announced that after the signing of this agreement and the transfer of money to the account of BHRT, the workers will be paid their salaries, and future mutual relations and obligations between BHRT and FTV have been agreed upon, BHRT writes.
In addition to the cooperation agreement, the general director of BHRT and FTV also signed an annex to the contract with Elektroprivreda BiH on the collection of RTV tax.
“BHRT thanks the Minister of Transport and Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forta, for mediating and looking for a solution, as well as all other actors who have supported BHRT so far,” added the Board of Directors of BHRT.
