The chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Denis Zvizdic gave an interview. At the beginning of the conversation, he referred to the negotiations in Neum, for which he said did not give the expected result, but did not fail.
Elections will be held
”These negotiations must never stop, nor the effort to reach a solution, of course, if it is based on the Constitution, legal provisions, and judgments of European and domestic courts. Opposition parties that were in Neum defended the principles of civil and multiethnic BiH, we defended the interests of others and Serbs in the Federation of BiH (FBiH). We have very decisively and argumentatively opposed those proposals that could go towards cementing the current situation or further ethno-territorial divisions, ” Zvizdic emphasized.
When it comes to the announcements of the HDZ BiH that they could boycott this year’s elections unless the Election Law is changed, Zvizdic noted that the elections will certainly be held.
”Every political party has the right to boycott the elections, including the HDZ. But they have no right to block. The first question that started the meeting in Neum and that Konakovicand I asked was whether the elections would be held because it is pointless to talk if we have blackmail that the elections will not be held. We received an explicit answer from the representatives of the international community that there will be elections, ” Zvizdic stated.
Joint candidate
Zvizdic considers the refusal of the left-wing parties (SDP, DF,and NS) to participate in the talks in Neum to be a wrongpolitical move.
”What should be an imperative is that the trio has a common candidate. If the trio has multiple nominations for a candidate, then the candidate should be selected on the basis of four or five essential principles. Based on that, we should find a consensus on who would be the best candidate, ” Zvizdic stressed.
Red lines
Also, Zvizdic expressed fears that Milorad Dodik could go very far in his unconstitutional actions.
”Dodik is defending what he has gained in the political, economic, and in every other sense. I am afraid that he is ready to go very far, and even that sphere that would mean possible conflicts in BiH. After crossing not one, but several red lines, he has nothing to lose, ” Zvizdic thinks.
