Young Swedish driver of Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) origin Dino Beganovic (21) unexpectedly ended up on the podium of the Formula 2 sprint race in Sakhir, several hours after the race had finished.

Namely, Beganovic had originally taken fourth place after a dramatic finish of the race held in Bahrain, and then the news arrived about the disqualification of Joshua Duerksen from the AIX Racing team, who had been in third place.

The technical delegate referred his car to the Sports Commission after it was determined that the diffuser strake was lower than the minimum prescribed height, violating Article 3.4.1a of the Formula 2 Technical Regulations.

After reviewing the case, the Sports Commission determined that the diffuser strake was 2 millimeters below the tolerance specified in Article 3.4.2, which constitutes a violation of technical regulations and resulted in his disqualification from the sprint race.

This news delighted Beganovic, who otherwise drove a great race for his Hitech TGR team and ultimately took third place and earned six points in the overall standings.

Even in the race itself, Beganovic had a chance to achieve his first victory in Formula 2, but in a heart-stopping finish two laps before the end of the race, he nevertheless missed out on the triumph.

Previously, Beganovic also had his first drive in Formula 1, and after that experience, he stated that his dream had become reality.
