Dodik Announces Abolition Of The Law On Financing BiH In RS

President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik announced that the entity authorities will abolish the application of the Law on Financing the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on the territory of RS on May 15th, accusing High Representative Christian Schmidt of violating the constitutional order and acting without legitimacy.

At a meeting of the ruling coalition in Banja Luka, Dodik stated that Schmidt is “illegal and a tourist” and that he “is instrumentalizing the judiciary of BiH.”

He said that RS will no longer recognize institutions that, as he said, do not have constitutional legitimacy.

This reaction comes after High Representative Christian Schmidt announced that he is suspending the financing of the parties SNSD and United Srpska from budget funds at all levels of government in BiH.

“I have made a decision to suspend all budget payments for financing SNSD and United Srpska,” Schmidt told reporters in Sarajevo, stating that the funds will be redirected to a special account in the Central Bank of BiH (CBBiH).

SNSD and United Srpska are led by RS President Milorad Dodik and President of the National Assembly of RS (NARS) Nenad Stevandic, whom Schmidt claims are fleeing from the judiciary of BiH.

“We have made a decision to suspend all unconstitutional institutions on the territory of RS. What is illegal cannot become legal,” Dodik stated.
