Dodik for TASS: I will not resign or leave the Republika Srpska

Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik told the Russian state news agency TASS today that he had not considered resigning and that he would not leave Republika Srpska.

“I will never resign under pressure. I will only leave the political scene when the citizens of Republika Srpska decide that it is time for me to go,” Dodik said, according to media reports.

He added that he “certainly will not leave RS” because, as he said, “he has everything there – his family and his loved ones.”

“I feel good here,” Dodik said, adding that he is committed to “advocating for Republika Srpska and fighting for every corner of it.”

He said that the RS government “is not militarists, nor a rebel group, and they have nothing to fear.”

“The law is on our side, and the obvious and widespread abuse is being committed by politicians in Sarajevo, especially those Bosnian Muslims who are dedicated to political Islam, which they have been promoting in this region for three decades,” Dodik assessed.

An internal arrest warrant has been issued for Dodik, RS Prime Minister Radovan Višković and RS Assembly President Nenad Stevandić by order of the Court of BiH, because they are under investigation for attacking the constitutional order of BiH.

On February 26, Dodik was sentenced in the first instance to one year in prison and a six-year ban on holding political office for the criminal offense of failing to implement a decision by the High International Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt.
