Dodik’s Lawyer Announced An Appeal Against The CEC’s Decision

Goran Bubic, lawyer of the President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik, confirmed that yesterday morning he received the decision of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH) to revoke his client’s mandate and that today he will submit an appeal against the decision.

The appeal against the decision will be submitted to the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH after the CEC of BiH last week made the decision to revoke the mandate of the President of RS, Milorad Dodik.

The CEC made the decision after a final verdict for non-compliance with the decisions of the High Representative in BiH, and Dodik was sentenced to one year in prison and six years of prohibition from holding political office.

The legal team of the President of RS announced an appeal to the Constitutional Court of BiH for a review of the constitutionality of such a decision of the Court of BiH and requested a postponement of the execution of the verdict until the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

Earlier, lawyer Ante Nobilo, who was on Dodik’s legal team, stated that the plan is to take this case to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg.

At the same time, if the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH confirms the CEC’s decision, under the Election Law of BiH, early elections for the President of the RS will follow.
