The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced a shortlist of 15 films that will enter the “race” for an Oscar nomination. There are no representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and the region on the list.
The candidate for Bosnia and Herzegovina was the film “Excursion” by Una Gunjak.
The Serbian candidate for the “Oscar” for the best foreign film was the production of Milorad Milinković’s “My thoughts are fighting”, and from Croatia “Traces” was Dubravka Turić’s.
The candidate from Montenegro was “Sirin” by Senad Šahmanović, and from North Macedonia “Housekeeping for Beginners” by Goran Stolevsky. Slovenia’s candidate was the drama “Riders” by Dominik Mencej.
The biographical drama of the Danish cinema “Promised Land” (Promised Land) was on the short list for nominations for the “Oscar” award, and it was for this film that the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was recently declared the best European actor in 2023. The film will be shown in the repertoire of regional cinemas from May.
