Chairman of the House of Representatives Šefik Džaferović in the introduction said that this law is in connection to the conditions set by Moneyval to Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the amendments to the Criminal Code.
“In this way, we have at least met minimum requirements regarding the requirements of Moneyval,” said Džaferović after the vote.
In the explanation of the Bill it is stated that the Moneyval Committee of the Council of Europe stressed the need for urgent changes to the Criminal Code in the part relating to the financing of terrorist activities, as failure to adopt these amendments no later than mid-April would result in initiation of procedure for non-compliant and non-cooperative countries.
This implies that Bosnia and Herzegovina would be placed on the list of non-compliant and non-cooperative countries (so-called gray list), which would have negative effects on the economy and the financial sector in BiH.
