Edin Dzeko will not continue playing in Turkish Fenerbahce next season.
Dzeko’s contract is expiring soon, and it was reported that a one-year extension was possible, but that will not happen. The Bosnian captain will take on new challenges, and Turkish media are currently reporting that Fenerbahce’s sports director Mario Branco announced this decision to Dzeko, as well as Dusan Tadic.
It is reported that Branco held a meeting with Dzeko and Tadic.
Fenerbahce is already looking for their replacements, and numerous negotiations are underway. It is reported that this move will free the club from a significant salary burden.
Džeko joined Fenerbahce from Inter in July 2023, and has made 31 appearances in the league this season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists. He has also scored three goals in the Europa League and four in the Champions League qualifiers. He has long been linked with Hajduk Split, who have previously expressed their desire to sign the popular Diamond.
