Early elections for the President of Republika Srpska are being held today. Polling stations open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has certified the candidacies of Dragan Đokanović (Alliance for New Politics of Republika Srpska), Branko Blanuša (SDS- Serbian Democratic Party), Siniša Karan (Alliance of Independent Social Democrats – SNSD – Milorad Dodik), Nikola Lazarević (Ecological Party of Republika Srpska), as well as independent candidates Igor Gašević and Slavko Dragičević.
A total of 1,264,364 voters are registered in the Central Voters’ Register, of which 20,269 voters vote by mail, and 258 voters vote in the diplomatic and consular missions of BiH in Munich, Berlin, Vienna and Belgrade.
A total of 2,211 polling stations have been established, and 139 mobile teams will be working in the field. 4,767 voters will be able to vote via the mobile team.
The Central Election Commission of BiH has accredited 639 observers. Of these, 515 observers are from non-governmental organizations, 99 from international organizations, and 25 from political entities.
It is estimated that the costs of holding early elections for the President of Republika Srpska will amount to 6,460,000 BAM.
Let us recall that the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina stripped Milorad Dodik of the mandate of the President of Republika Srpska after the final verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dodik was sentenced to one year in prison, which he bought off with money, and a six-year ban on holding public office for disrespecting the decisions of the High Representative in BiH.
Radio Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) is broadcasting a full-day special program dedicated to Election Day in the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska.
