According to Egyptian media, great progress has been made in indirect negotiations held in Cairo on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas.
In the news reported by the “Al-Qahira al-Ikhbariya” channel, citing a high-ranking Egyptian official, it was stated that the differences of opinion on the solution to the crisis in Gaza have largely been resolved in the round of negotiations that have been continuing in Cairo since Sunday.
There have been conflicting reports in the Israeli media about the talks in Cairo.
In the news published by the “Inet” portal from an authorized source regarding the negotiations, it is claimed that “Hamas is expected to make major concessions and that the United States (U.S.) is exerting intense pressure to reach a solution.”
In the news of the Israeli state television KAN, it was stated that the authorities in Israel refused to comment on the news that progress had been made in the negotiations.
It was stated in the news that it will be known only in the coming days whether progress has really been made in the negotiations.
Hamas has not yet commented on these allegations.
However, Hamas has stated many times before that an agreement on a cease-fire and prisoner exchange requires first “stopping the war, withdrawing Israel from Gaza, returning the displaced to their homes, and facilitating the entry of aid.”
On March 19th, the Israeli delegation, led by Mossad director David Barnea, went to Doha, the capital of Qatar, for a new round of negotiations on the release of the prisoners.
